Long-Flower Fingerroot is a herb uo to 50-60 cm tall,
with robust roots. Leaves are green, ovate, 8-12 x 5-9 cm, base
heart-shaped, tip cuspidate. Inflorescences on separate shoots arising
from rhizomes; bracts ovate, 2-4 cm, hairy, tip tapering. Flowers are
2-3 per inflorescence. Sepal-cup is tubular, 2 x 0.5 cm, white,
translucent, hairless, tip bi-toothed. Flower-tube is up to 10 cm long,
about 3 mm wide at the base, white, hairless externally and internally,
petals are linear to lanceshaped, about 2 x 0.5 cm, yellowish-white,
hairless, margins involute; androecial tube cup-shaped, about 4-5 mm
long, yellowish-white. Lip is sac-like, semi-round, 2.2-2.5 cm long,
2.0-2.2 cm wide, light yellow, throat centre dark red. Long-Flower
Fingerroot is found on forest floors in mountains, at altitudes of
1100-1900 m, in China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand.
